Chronicity means a vicious circle of pain, pain-related relieving posture and stress-related psychological impairment. On the basis of the Munich Back Pain Model it is possible to get closer to the causes of pain that have often remained in the dark until now. Particularly in the case of chronic pain, it is important to identify individual stress factors that lead to increased muscle tension and thus to an intensification of the symptoms. The complexity of chronicity makes it difficult to identify individual causes of pain. We rely on medical intuition during the consultation and physical examination and combine the findings with the results of the imaging. For this reason, all computerised and MRI scans of the spine are assessed independently and autonomously at the Schmerzwerkstatt München. Depending on the individual case, we also use Diagnostic blockages on. This often underestimated procedure helps to identify individual causes of pain: If pain is relieved after the targeted elimination of a nerve or vertebral joint, the cause of the pain has been recognised. This enables the step-by-step creation of an individualised pain map with relevant pain triggers. Only now can a targeted and therefore effective therapy be initiated. We are not magicians. But pain relief is often possible!

For chronic complaints, the Multimodal treatment proven. We approach your problem from several angles with a mosaic of customised therapy modules. The number of physiotherapy sessions and the type of medication will be tailored to your specific case, as will any necessary image-guided infiltrations. Other important elements of therapy include relaxation techniques and a change in the way you deal with residual symptoms.

In the pain workshop, we emphasise the importance of exhausting all procedures. If there is no satisfactory reduction in pain after this, a Pain pacemaker can be an alternative for selected patients. The suppression of pain conduction in the spinal cord provides relief. In 70 % of our patients, we can achieve a pain reduction of 50 %.
